Vuċijiet Beltin: Global Community Engagement Project

Vuċijiet Beltin, which means "voices of the city," is a community engagement project built in partnership with More or Less Theatre and the Science in the City Festival, which focused on highlighting the voices of underserved and marginalized communities living within the capital city of Valletta, Malta. Through in-depth research and collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including key support from organizations such as EkoSkola, Office of the Commissioner for Children, and the University of Malta's Faculty of Built Environment, Faculty of Science and Faculty of ICT, and most importantly, the Valletta community itself, we were able to successfully create a theatre performance that explored and tackled active societal, socioeconomic, and environmental issues impacting the island country. All while providing a platform for the Valletta community (specifically the youth) to share their hopes and dreams, providing a voice to the often voiceless. I consulted on this project. Offering key community engagement insight and expertise, using the arts as a framework to initiate and creating change. I also programmed and produced two Masterclass workshops that coincided with the final performances during the festival. Catalyst for Change: Arts Shaping Community and Women Connect: Leadership Transforming Communities, both took place at the Valletta Design Cluster.
